Practice Information
The clubs holds their practice sessions in
Madison
Meadow
Park in
Lombard . This is located two blocks west of Westmore Avenue along Madison Street. The club uses the field just to the west of the main parking lot. Training usually begins around the start of March with Saturday morning sessions until there is more daylight. Before the game schedule begins, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are training days. With most matches played on Wednesdays, after the season starts the club trains on Mondays and Fridays.
Player Responsibilities
Players are expected to treat others with respect at all times. This includes all teammates, coaches, referees, opposing players and any spectators. Each player is expected to attend training sessions and be on time. On game days players are required to wear their team uniform including their game shorts and socks. Players will help to set up and clear the game field before and after matches. All players must be registered with USA Rugby and submit their insurance information to the club before they can participate in any full contact training or in any matches.
The club expects all players to follow the laws of the game and act responsibly during all training sessions and matches. A code of conduct will be provided to each player at the time of registration.
Parent Responsibilities
Since the club is an independent, self-supporting organization, certain responsibilities are passed on to the players and their parents. One of the main concerns involves the rugby tradition of hosting a post match meal to be shared with the visiting club. Parents are asked to help provide food and drink for these feasts. It is best if a number of parents share the cost for each home match.
Parents also are responsible for providing the insurance and emergency information for their children who play.
Rugby is a full contact sport and the club needs to have this information readily available for each player in case of accident or injury.
When there are home games to be played the club must line the pitch the day before. Parent volunteers are requested to help in this task. The club owns a field liner and will provide the equipment and paint required to line the pitch.
The club also may ask parents to assist in other duties to help the club run smoothly. Volunteers for various duties are always welcome.
Transportation
The club does not provide transportation to matches. Players are required to get to the games on their own or with the aid of parents. Maps to home field and to all away games are provided by the coaching staff.
